Policy and dates
- Policy on attendance
- Students are required to attend all lectures. The penalty for
unexcused absences is:
-
2--3 absences: |
grade penalty |
4 absences: |
F on the course |
There will be unannounced quizzes. In addition to giving the student
the incentive to study on a continuous basis, they allow me to verify
attendance. Missing a quiz, or failing to collect one, each counts as
an absence.
On quizzes and exams, you are required to bring a set of colour
pencils, which you will use for the graphical problems. Since quizzes
can be given any day, always bring it with you.

If the score on the final improves the lowest score on partial exams,
it will replace it if the student is in good standing, meaning: not
more than two unexcused absences, and an over-all grade of ``S'' on
homework (which means assigned work was handed in, and considered for
the most part satisfactory).

Exams test on cumulative, not incremental material. The student should
rely on understanding the material for the long term, not on
short-term memory. Dates and topics supersede any information found in
the main syllabus.
